Solution 1:
Dollar Interest = (Principal - hair cut) Repo Rate (Repo Term in days/360 days) Dollar Interest = ($98.25 -0.05) x 4% x 1/360 days = .01091 Return = (sellling price + dolloar interest - Purchase price)/purchase price Return on capital trader = ($98.35 + .01091 - $98.25)/$98.25 = .1128%
Solution 2;
Amount Invested by capital trader = 98.25-(98.25*0.05)
= 93.3375
Repo rate = 4%
Repurchase price = 93.3375+93.3375*4%*1/360
= 93.3479
Return on capital = 93.3479-93.3375 = 0.0104
