I still believe that age is just a number and a person who is physically fit should be allowed every opportunity to become a police officer, but I can understand an agency's concerns that the financial cost of worker's compensation and staffing issues caused when someone is out on injury can be a determining factor. However, the unspoken benefits of an older candidate and employee are life experience and institutional knowledge, and those should be taken seriously when an agency considers age limitations
