I tend to fall into a combination of Innovation Types and Innovation Degrees out of the 12 Elements of Innovation (Matthews & Brueggeman, 2015, p. 31, 33). I can relate to the evolutionary sort of innovation degrees; in terms of innovation kinds, I tend to favor a hybrid of the process and systems types. For instance, I led a team of junior soldiers and junior leaders on how to arrange flights as a scheduling team member during a rotation in Romania in 20212. In the past, we would write on a big whiteboard and arrange magnetic pucks with names to represent flight crews. Leadership assigned my team and me the duty of developing a scheduling solution last year when regulations forced us to work more from home. The system would have enabled crew members to check forthcoming flight dates, input their availability, and have video-based meetings.
