I think it is pretty wild what is normal around the world when it comes to committing crimes against women. As the text explains, genital mutilation of women in common to the tune of millions of women having this happen to them every year. In other cultures like Afghanistan women are not allowed to leave the home during their monthly cycle and they must be accompanied by a man of the home to leave the house. Along with the tolerance of throwing acid on women's faces for not being covered.
My question about this is knowing that this is happening do modern countries have an obligation to put an end to this behavior or do we need to leave this as an idea of isolationism and chalk it up to the differences between our cultures and let it go on year after year or decade after decade? Would educating populations stop this behavior or more engrain it into the culture?
