Background of the Study Most Filipinos are fond of buying goods and other products in sachets. Tingi mentality refers to the consiunption of products in tiny individual packages. According to the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives, the average Filipino will go through 591 pieces of sachets in one year alone. Most Filipino households nowadays are interested in maximizing their weekly or monthly budget, which is why the majority of them have a practical mindset and choose tingi-tingi shopping over other options. The maimer in which households think and decide on purchasing is very complex. They consider lots of factors like the quality, availability, and the price of each product that they buy. Thus, this study focuses on the different impacts of the Tingi-tingi mentality on the buying behavior of households with different perspectives or lifestyles. This aims to determine if this small retail purchasing affects the decision-making of every household in buying products. This study also wants to explore how tingi-tingi purchasing affects their daily allocation. Additionally speaking, this type of mentality can be both classied as a negative and positive externality it is positive in a way that it is cheaper compared in bulk, thus it enables families and communities to be more fnrgal and save more of their earnings for other necessities. Negative in the sense that it clogs drains making ooding more frequently, it also pollutes our oceans making it a major cause of plastic waste in the Philippines. IV. Objectives The main purpose of this study is to provide new ideas about the impact of tingi (sachet) mentality in society. It aims to validate the essence of the said spending behavior of each Filipino, nowaday. Aside from that, one of its objectives is to have a deeper understanding of how it really impacts the spending behavior of a household, and its advantages, and disadvantages to average and below-average levels of livelihood. The main targets of this study that will benet from this are the following: Consumers. Since this study tackles how tingi mentality or buying in portions would be userl, especially in inunediate consumption of goods, this study provides them a solution to allocate their tightly held budget by using tingi-tingi purchasing. Sari-sari store business. The business will benefit from this study by gaining new knowledge about selling their product co-related with the needs and wants of customers. V. Listtdescription of the quantitative and qualitative data needed and method of collectiontsource The research will utilize a qualitative non-experimental case study. A qualitative study is a study that utilizes naturalistic methods, which involve processes, feelings, and motives. Ifs utilized to learn more about people's individual differences. In this regard, a case study is a sort of qualitative research that is conducted when the researchers wish to learn more about a specific circumstance, event, activity, process, or even a group of people. lCresswell [2013) defined the case study as a method that explores real-life events, in-depth programs, activities, processes, or one or more individuals. This study will be using a qualitative non-experimental case study, for it ts the agenda of this research and that is, primarily, to determine the impact of tingi mentality on the lifestyle of households. An in-depth interview is supposed to be used in the study. Semi-structured interviews will be utilized by the researchers to gather data and information that helps in answering the questions needed to be answered by this study. As for the data collection, the participants of the study will be interviewed one-on-one. The interview will be audio-recorded and thus, will be transcribed for the analysis of data. After the data gathering procedure, the data will be analyzed through the following procedures. First, the interview was recorded or transcribed for content analysis alone. The recorded interview will undergo transcription facilitated by the researcher. The researchers will then identify the signicant responses, and highlight quotes and interviews that are significant to the study. Second, all the resulting transcriptions of the different responses from the households will be analyzed simultaneously with initial assumptions. Afterward, it was categorized into the distth variables then the researchers will compare them to the coded answers from the field notes and look for their relationship. Finally, the researchers will integrate and analyze the countries and validate the assumption of the study through the coded interviews. The interview will last 5-10 minutes. The data gathering will be done at the beginning of the preferred month and will last for a week. To build up a rapport with the participants, questions may be translated to Tagalog and could be answered in Tagalog for them to be able to express their insights and ideas, about tingi-tingi mentality, comfortably and with clarity
