I understand that any type of program shift comes with limitations and potential challenges. This will require a shift in practice, school culture, and mindset. Some teachers and special educators that are more set in their ways may balk at the idea of changing practices and trying something new (Branstetter, 2012). Instruction and training in new practices will be necessary, as well as funding for programming and staffing (instructional coaches, interventionists, etc.). Even so, the potential benefits of a problem solving approach, like RTI, far outweigh the challenges that may come with implementation. If we say we are making decisions about programming based on what is best for the kids, then a change in approach is best for our kids that need the greatest level of support
