Question 2 As treasurer of the University Student Association you maintain a cash book which is periodically reconciled to bank statements issued by the university's bank, International Bank of UK. At 30th June 2012 the balance at bank in the cash book was 2,400 while the latest bank statement shows an overdrawn balance of 680. The following discrepancies were uncovered: 1) A cheque paid to A&A Suppliers for 450 was entered in the cash book as 540 2) A bank lodgement of 150 was entered in the cash book as 120 3) A transfer of 2,000 to an investment account at International Bank of UK had not been entered in the cash book 4) A receipt of 40 showing in the bank statement has not been entered in the cash book 5) Cheques drawn, amounting to 90, had not yet been presented at the bank 6) The cash book balance had been brought down at 1" July 2011 as 2,700 whereas it should have been 2,500 7) Bank charges of 30 do not appear in the cash book 8) Cheques for 1,100 paid into the bank on 30th June 2012 will not be credited in the bank until 2nd July 9) A standing order payment of 60 has not been entered in the cash book 10) A cheque for 100 subscription and paid into the bank has been returned as dishonoured 11) The bank, unknown to the treasurer, has received a direct debit payment for 200 from an ex student 12) Cheques paid into the bank were totalled as 200 but should have been 240 Required: (a) Draw up a bank reconciliation statement as at 30th June 2012.
