I want you to look at two cases, and then tell me if you think the Supreme Court has faithfully followed its own guidelines when decided whether to overrule a precedent.

You could look at Wayfair v. South Dakota, where the Supreme Court overruled a precedent and allowed states to collect sales taxes on internet sales from out-of-state vendors, or the recent Dobbs v. Jackson County decision, overruling Roe v. Wade, the 1973 abortion case.

The instructions are to first scan a summary of the Wayfair case, and then, I want you to read enough of Dobbs to understand it. Find the part of the summary or the actual opinion where Justice Alito lists the reasons that it was ok to overturn Roe. Then, read enough of the dissent to see what they think. I only want to look at whether the Supreme Court's reasons for overturning Dobbs seem fair to you. I don't want the opinion about abortion, although you can toss that in if you want, but just whether the Court's reasons for overturning Roe seem correct to you.
