I was recently speaking with someone in reference to out-of-pocket payments that are initiated by uninsured patients, which does not always mean a person is unemployed or maybe poor. I recently discovered that there are a few individuals that are self-employed and would rather pay for their medical services upon service rather than paying for insurance monthly. I am curious to know how this affects their access to essential health care services. I am wondering if certain parameters are changed when a person has the finances to pay for all health care service costs themselves upfront?
