I work for a hospital system that utilizes everything purchased for instance, medical equipment such as hospitals beds, oxygen tanks. We have a team who is responsible for procurement who ensures that the goods and services are received timely so that operations flow smoothly. Other areas that are used from stationary and other office essentials are handled by each department. In My department for example, we have an Administrative Support Representative who manages everything the department needs from paper to toner. We also have a manager who is takes care of ordering office equipment's and everything necessary to help with the workflow. Mapping out a supply chain is one of the critical steps in performing an external analysis in a strategic planning process. The importance of clearly laying out the supply chain is that it helps a company define its own market and decide where it wants to be in the future.
