I would prefer to work for a company that follows a people-focused environment like Theory Y. I prefer this theory because I do not like to be micro managed. I actually find it a bit insulting. If an employer hires an employee, they should ensure that the employee is capable and willing to carry out the work they are hired to do. I personally work better when I am given an assignment with a deadline, and am given the space to get it done.

I would not like to work for a company who operates under Theory X because they have a negative outlook on their employees capabilities. A company is only as good as their leaders, and if they view their employees in this light, then their employees will eventually view management and the overall company is this light.

I have spent most of my career as a self employed hairstylist where I employ an assistant and receptionist. I operate with a Theory Y outlook on my employees because if I doubt their capabilities then I am doubting the profitability of my company. In the few times I have worked for other salons they have all been Theory Y companies that led with confidence and positivity.
