About a month ago, John's car finally broke down after almost 9 years of driving, so it was no surprise when he noticed the billboard for the new Honda Civic when he was taking a taxi to work the next day. He had driven his car a lot of kilometres over the last 9 years, so he decided that a hybrid car was probably going to be best to replace his old car. When he returned home from work that day he went online and started to research hybrid cars and spent the next several weekends going to car dealerships to get as much information as he could.
While doing his research over the next three or four weeks, John learned a lot of interesting information he did not know about hybrid cars. He even joined several online forums (discussion groups). In fact, during this time he actually met many new friends. These friends provided John with a lot of the new information he was learning about hybrid cars. For example, John's original research indicated that hybrids cars were slow, however, many of the people he met in the online forums said that some hybrid cars have very good acceleration, with some hybrid cars being actually as fast as a Porshe or Jaguar sports car. John was very impressed by this information.
One Saturday morning, about a month after John started doing his hybrid car research, he sat down with his morning newspaper. The Saturday morning newspaper was his favourite these days because this newspaper had many car advertisements that he could read. However, this Saturday morning John was very busy taking care of his four young children, who were all very active playing games, watching T.V., listening to music and, of course, fighting with one another. It wasn't helping that John was already having his third (3rd) large cup of coffee and it was only 10am. John was disappointed this morning that he only seemed to notice very few car advertisements in today's Saturday paper; But one advertisement did catch his eye, a full-page, colour advertisement for a bright red new Toyota Prius V. This ad particularly stood out to John because he noticed that this car was a little bigger than other hybrids, something important to John because of his large family. However, as he read the ad, he was disappointed that the Prius V fuel efficiency was only 20km/litre, basically about the same as all other hybrids.
Finally after a few more weeks of research, John decided that the Prius V was for him. So, one day he went to the Toyota dealership to buy his Prius. When he arrived, the dealership was very busy so he decided to simply browse while he waited for a salesperson to approach him. While he was looking around he noticed, to his surprise, that the Toyota Camry also had a hybrid version, and its fuel economy was actually a little better than other hybrids at 22km/litre. Because John already knew that the Camry was a mid-size sedan and therefore as big as the Prius V, immediately, John knew that the Camry was the better car for him and his family and soon he left the dealership driving his new Toyota Camry.
