Identify in each scenario the correct ethical and/or legal issue and place your answer in the table below.
Scenario A Nancy converted to Islam in her late 30s and is now a practicing Muslim. Belinda, your colleague and the group leader, often makes strong political and racial comments about Muslims living in Australia to both participants and colleagues. She is aware that Nancy is a Muslim.
Scenario B You realise that Beth takes all documentation home after the meeting. The documentation has participant's names and addresses on it and also has information about the discussions in the group. The policy is to return to the office and put the notes in the locked filling cabinet.
Scenario C You are working with a youth group. During the group session you notice a few bruises on Carly. One bruise is on her eye and the other on the back of her neck. Carly is one of your youngest group members at 13 years old.
Scenario D Following a group session, you are asked by your manager to take a participant home and provide one on one support. They ask you to decide on a diagnosis for this patient so they can tell their support workers and families. You are not qualified to provide a diagnosis and haven't been approved to provide one on one care.
Scenario E One of the participants in the group disclose that they are being abused. They continue talking and are asked questions by the other participants. They do not respond and shrug it off and say 'let's move on'.
Scenario F Following work, you go out for a drink with a colleague who is also supporting the group you are working with. They begin talking about the people in the group in a negative way. They use names and specific scenarios the group members have shared in confidence.
Scenario G During your group work a participant becomes frustrated with another participant and starts swearing at them. They then say a mean thing about the participant and storm out of the room.
Scenario H For the group sessions the space that was being used to meet is unavailable, so your colleague suggested a room which has previously been used to facilitate group sessions. When you go the room, you realise that it has mould on the ceiling and doesn't have opening windows. You tell your colleague about it and also tell her that there aren't any chairs in the space. She says 'let's just sit on the floor'.
