  • identify relevant anthropometric data in determining the dimensions of a workstation;
  • choose appropriate percentile to use for the measurements; and
  • calculate adjustability ranges for certain workstation measurements.

  1. From the list of anthropometric data, choose which are relevant in determining the design measurements for the computer workstation and copy it in the table provided.
  2. Make necessary calculations for the design measurements of the workstation and mark these in the figure appropriately.
  3. Calculate adjustability ranges for table-top height and monitor screen eye height (measures A and B in the figure)
  4. Design for a 5th to 95th percentile population. There are several assumptions:
    1. The monitor is touch screen.
    2. There is a footrest.
    3. The shoes are 4cm high.
    4. The hands are manipulating controls at elbow height.
    5. The table top is 3cm high.
    6. Legs of the table are supported with a 3cm high rubber pads.
    7. A soft mat which is 5cm high is provided to reduce vibration and fatigue.
  5. Other assumptions may be added provided that it comes with an explanation.
  6. Show your computations for the design measurements.
