If an abuser is arrested due to the mandatory arrest law, then it is possible the arrest will not be dropped, even if the victim doesn't want to pursue the charges (Kirby, 2022). I feel that the no-drop policy could lead to more people being put in jail. This could be a disadvantage to victims who were defending themselves. The mandatory arrest law could lead to the victim's arrest and the "no-drop" policy could see that they are punished for a crime they truly didn't commit, but because the laws are set up the way they are, victims are criminalized. Is that true?
