I know that project managers that have a vested interest in this project, may side with the idea of continuing because of how much time and money has been spent, but I would have to strongly disagree. Currently, there is a loss of $1.03 billion dollars, and this was due to the lack of clarity of outcomes, lack of monitoring the progression, and lack of well versed leadership. While the amount lost thus far is massive, we would stand to lose much more. We would have to start by utilizing a Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) which is a set of activities used to create an information system. Through this process everything is well documented, milestones are clearly identified, and project managers and everyone involved have full knowledge of the project and fully understand everything the project entails. It is obvious that the previous management team did nothing to ensure the success of this program.
