If there is a disruption in a section of the internet, how does this affect transmission of packets?

Packets are held outside of the fault tolerance area until the disabled areas of the network are repaired.

Through fault tolerance, other nodes are able to absorb the traffic that would have gone through the disabled section.

A node will ping the disabled node with multiple packets until the network is restored.

Packets are dropped and a request is ignored.
