I mentor young engineers in my team, sometimes trying to get them to do complex engineering studies without them knowing/understanding these concepts is very challenging. Before getting them to work on the studies, I usually have them read the concepts and try to explain as best as I can and encourage them to ask questions, so they have base understanding of the highly technical studies they are about to perform.
