II. Case Questions (3 marks) The Rail Company operates a passenger train. Mariyam is a 36- year-old woman who works at Lotteria restaurant, and she rides the train to work every day. At the train station near Mariyam's house, the company painted the stairs to the train platform with bright yellow paint. The paint made the stairs easier to see, but the paint was also very slippery if it became wet. The company thus installed a handrail next to the stairs so that people going up and down the stairs could hold onto it. When Mariyam arrived at the train station on July 1, 2018, it was raining very heavily. She was late for her train, and she did not hold onto the handrail as she ran down the stairs. Mariyam slipped on the wet stairs and broke her leg. She was taken to the hospital, where the doctors put her leg in a plaster cast. Mariyam had to wear the cast for six weeks, and during that time she had to use wooden crutches to help her walk. She was also not able to work at Lotteria for six weeks. Two weeks after Maryam's accident, a thief stole Mariyam's purse as she walked down the street. She could not run away from the thief because she was on crutches.
