I'm learning ANOVA in statistics and I'm a little confused about the following question:

"Use Table A.5 (or statistical software) to calculate the F-value. You have multiple groups. Do not double the p-value from the table. The table is designed to compare two variances--that test is always two-sided and the table reflects that.. You have two sets of degrees of freedom!

Use k -1 for the numerator degrees of freedom.

Use n - k for the denominator degrees of freedom.

In Table A.5, use the columns for numerator degrees of freedom and the rows for denominator degrees of freedom.

What if the denominator value is higher than the numerator? How would you read the table?"

I don't believe that the denominator value being higher than the numerator value would affect the way we read a degrees of freedom table. Is this correct? Please explain.
