I'm taking Power Plant Systems for Pilots and one question says: "It took thousands of years before designers developed a viable heat engine.  Yet about a single century from the early internal combustion engines they were producing thousands of horsepower and powering large aircraft. Discuss two or three factors that allowed the rapid engine development after it took centuries to get it started.", please help.
