I am extremely passionate about the outdoors travel industry and want to open my own company that produces and sells outdoor equipment. I hope to use the sage 50 accounting software to build an integrated system with multiple modules. My business model is that - I procure garments, dyes and other small items such as zips, hooks and buttons from many textile suppliers in Asia. I have a small factory in Scarborough, where my team stitches all these together and sells them to retail stores. I will use the accounts payable module to look at all the different retailers that have purchased my product and the associated payment dates. We usually run on a 30-day payment period with our textile suppliers in Asia, so the Accounts Payable module will be useful in tracking all those accounts. I recently had to make an update on one of my vendors and I was pleased to note that all other modules were simultaneously updated. The inventory and services module helps me track all existing inventory of garments I have in my shop. This includes all the unstitched textiles and zips and also completely finished shirts and pants that are ready to be shipped to retail outlets. I have about 50 employees in my company. Some of them work in buying the textiles, some of them are sowers and stitchers who make our product and we have the packaging and delivery teams that take our garments and drive them to different stores all over Canada. I also have HR and Maintenance personnel on-site. The Employees and Payroll module is so useful in noting each person's salary grade and annual increments and bonuses. I was successfully able to update my company's information and was able to view the different reports under the Company module. I am new to financial statements, but it was a good learning to see what a Balance sheet and Income statement is. I also learned how to Enter transactions in the general journal. I realized that I had made an error in recording an entry, but Sage 50 allows me to easily make changes that I know will get updated in all modules.
