Imagine work for a large well-known company such as: Amazon, Google, McDonalds, Apple, Nike, Tesla etc... Choose one of these companies or a similarly well-known company that you will hypothetically work for, for the purposes of the assignment.

  • Once chosen the company, you will come up with an idea for a new product or process to present to the company you hypothetically work for.
  • Brainstorm some process and product ideas (e.g. new iphone for apple).
  • Choose one of the ideas you have come up with to write your proposal on (it does not have to be currently possible but write as if it is).

Create a digital proposal for a project idea (product or process):

Using the following sections complete a digital proposal presentation to convince management. objective is to convince senior management that your idea is a good idea and that the company should proceed with your internal proposal.

  • This can be an improvement to a current product or process.
  • This can be a completely new and innovative product or process idea.
  1. PROJECT TITLE SLIDE: Give your project a name.
    • Include your name and date in this slide.
  2. INTRODUCTION: Briefly introduce the product/process idea.
    • What exactly are you proposing?
    • For what purpose (brief).
    • Include a drawing, photograph, picture, or video.
  3. RATIONALE: What is the business need for the project? (may be several slides).
    • Background information (need).
    • Why it should be done (evidence supporting need).
    • Market/Industry research.
    • Competitor research.
    • Statistics
    • ** all research included (min. 3 sources) must be cited and documented with APA.
  4. PROJECT GOAL: How will this benefit the company? What is the hoped-for result?
    • Consider profits / exposure / market share / customer service.
    • Graphs and tables can be included here to visually express this.
  5. PROJECT STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (RISKS).
    • What are the project strengths? (areas you strongly feel will be successful).
    • What are the project weaknesses? (areas you feel have risk of failure or issue).
    • How do you plan to prepare for and mitigate the risks?
  6. PROJECT SCOPE: What will and will not be included in the project?
    • Consider using a table (In Scope / Out of Scope).
  7. SUMMARY: Summarize the overall idea, project, benefits and need.
    • This is where you give your final persuasive call to action.
    • The idea should be appealing and interesting.
