Imagine you are an HR professional working for local restaurant named Madison Park Restaurant. Madison Park is a small business located in Utah county with four locations. Each location is managed by a General Manager and you are assigned to support each of the GMs$.$

One day, the GM from the Eastern region, Jared, calls you at your desk. Jared tells you he has an employee who keeps missing their shifts and showing up late. They are a new employee that isn't working out and he wants to terminate their employment. He explains how he gave the employee the company's usual offer letter detailing their start date, base pay, vacation days and other benefits when they started. He then provided them the full training program complete with the company handbook. Jared explains further that this new employee is a family friend, and he is disappointed in their performance. He admits to you, "Yeah, I told them if they worked hard they would always have a job with us here at Madison Park. Too bad things didn't pan out that way."
