Search engine optimization is not something new but it has become something that is needed if you want your site to show up first in a search. The first website was up in August of 1991 and it did not need SEO. Once other websites started popping up is when people started to realize that they needed help if they wanted to be seen. The video talked about how 2/3 of people do not go past the first page when they search for something and I have to agree with that because I do not move past the first page if I do not really have to. That is why search engine optimization is so important and there are businesses that deal with that. Everyone wants their websites to be seen and visited because for a lot of them it is their livelihood. Big companies spend a lot of money in hiring other companies to make sure that their websites will be at the top of whatever search engine is used. Being seen first is more eyes that will see the page and is something that can lead to more money coming in depending on the company. The video was very interesting because it was able to show how search engine optimization works in a very easy way. It is very interesting learning about how such a small part of a website can really affect how it is viewed and how, if you have a business, it can really put you out there to gain money.
