1. In 1962, the Jacksons and the Madisons purchased adjoining property along the White River. Over the next 15 years, the course of the river moved 20 feet to the east, leaving additional land next to both the original properties owned by the Jacksons and the Madisons. During that same time, the Jacksons managed a family farm on their land and on all of the land created by the shifting of the river, while the Madisons lived in Chicago, hoping to retire along their White River land one day.
