In 2019, I took part in a CLE on how to take a deposition. As part of the course, actors were hired to portray the deponents. We were given a scenario to act out, and ask our practice deposition questions based on the scenario, which was a sexual harassment claim.

The actor portraying the alleged harasser was brilliant. He played his part very well. At one point, he responded to my questioning about sexual jokes as "Oh, those are the best kind!", and "You mean I can't joke around with my employees just to blow off steam?"

That whole exercise left me thinking about just how commonplace the actor's make believe words were--in the workplace, do we find ourselves just going along with things we find funny and not give the least thought to whether someone will be offended?

Inno less than three words, describe to me your opinion about whether we take harassment claims and a "kinder, gentler workplace" too far, or do we need to take more steps to protect each other from harassing, hostile behavior. When we cross the line between personal and work, is there is standard we should apply? Please provide at least two sources, properly cited, to support your response. Do not use the text as your only sources.
