in 50 words, respond to the following peer discussion: I believe the biggest advantage of capitalism is competition. Having to compete for your share of whatever business you're in means, in theory, that people should be looking at ways of improving their products - and thus improving people's lives. Healthy competition keeps pricing in check so that no one company should be monopolizing the financial and power dynamic. Another advantage is that it lets people choose what they want to buy from who they want to buy it from. People can earn more based on the value that they bring to a company, which leads to a more comfortable lifestyle. Some disadvantages are that it can promote monopolies, even though that isn't supposed to happen. The biggest example is Amazon. Even though it technically isn't a monopoly, it does tend to put smaller companies out of business with their lower pricing and convenience of quick shipping. The fall of local brick and motor businesses, where people got together in their community not only to shop, but to interact with their peers, has also diminished due to online retail. Another disadvantage can be the labor wage gap depending upon where people end up working. Unfortunately I don't think virtue plays much into the role of moderating profit and wages, which is the reason we have such issues with it. It should be that businesses make just enough to maintain a healthy profit, and they invest back into the company, the people and the community
