In a chemical plant, Tank B is used as a mixer for two fluids.
At the beginning of the process (before mixing starts) the pressure gauge reads 14.29 kPa for a
height h =1.75m due to a force F =200N applied by the piston of 0.5m radius. The multi fluid
manometer will read hp =2.83m, hk=2m; and 0.6mHg differential reading and LG =1.5m. This
represents the difference in pressure to Tank A that contains gasoline up to h1=8m
a) Write an expression for the pressure variation in the system.
b) Find the absolute air pressure in Tank A.
c) Find the new mercury differential reading if a force F =250N is applied to the piston. New
gauge reading is 14.277 kPa with no significant change to the height h due to the size of
the tank.
