Question: In a conventional eye operation to correct short sightedness the patient lies on the operating table and from the first incision to the final stich

In a conventional eye operation to correct short sightedness the patient lies on the operating table and from the first incision to the final stich the surgeon assisted by staff to do the operation. The Anaesthetist keep the patient under sedation during the whole process. During the process the curvature of the retina is corrected surgically. In Russia an eye surgeon developed a different process as follows; there are eight operating tables arranged like the spokes of a wheel around a central that can turn, on each table lies a patient ready to be operated on, there are eight surgeons who each performs small part of the operation, Each surgeon checks the previous operation task to ensure that it was performed correctly and then does his/her own task, and he surgeons can talk with each other and the total operation is monitored on overhead TV screens.  The cost per patient is cheaper and a higher success rate is achieved than in the conventional process.
