In a non-insulated combustion chamber a car engine burns high octane fuel. C8H18 (liq.) is mixed and burned with 100% excess air. C8H18 (liq.) enters the chamber at a constant rate of 10kg/hour and at a temperature of 25C, while the air flows in steadily at 17C. The combustion gases exit at 1500K. The equation for the combustion process is: C8H18(liq.)+25(O2+3.76N2)8CO2+9H2O+12.5O2+94N2 The air and the combustion products can be assumed to behave as ideal gases (hence, h=h(T) ). Kinetic and potential energies are negligible. Use the property tables provided. Write the steady-flow energy balance applied to the combustion chamber per unit mole of fuel, as a function of enthalpies of formation and sensible enthalpies. [4] Determine the heat transferred from the combustion chamber to the surroundings, per kmol of fuel (in kJ/kmol fuel). [8] Determine the rate of heat transfer from the combustion chamber to the surroundings, for the given mass flow rate of fuel (in W). [5] Hint: For C3H8 (liq.), the enthalpy of formation is 249,950kJ/kmol and the sensible enthalpies at the temperatures of interest are nil
