In an example of Nike considering creating Sports beverages in-house under the Nike name versus going with a partner like Gatorade.

Wouldn't is be best if it were suggested that expanding under Nike's brand name because of the economies of scope. The cost of producing sports drinks / beverages along with its current products (shoes and apparel), under the Nike brand name it is less than the cost of producing sports drinks / beverages under a new brand name. (Similarly, for example, Ford, and General Motors produces different trucks models that use the same engines and transmissions. And these companies do so under their own Umbrella or Company Name). Wouldn't it make sense to produce the sports drinks / beverages under the Nike name since they have world recognition in the sporting shoes and apparel already ?

Question:

Why might the company decide to do so under the Nike brand name?
