In an experiment to determine the unit-cell dimensions of crystalline magnesium fluoride, MgF₂, which has a tetragonal crystal lattice, CuKradiationof wavelength 154 pm was used to record the X-ray diffraction pattern.Diffraction was observed from the (110) planes at a glancing angle of 13.6and from the (211) planes at 26.8.Calculate the separations between the planes and hence determine the dimensions of the unit cell.
