In any production line of manufacturing process, the selection of material plays a vital part in deternining the quality and/or the quantity of the throughput of the assembly line. Good practise in material selection allows optimization of overhead cost, therefore it should be a norm in any manufacturing process. One of the factor that affects material selection is the available processes that is accessible to the manufacturer. This is due to the fact that different process may have different outcome depending on the material. Hence the manufacturer must understand the nature of the process as well as the behaviour of the material in response to process. The objective of this assignment is for you to familiarise with the relation of material selection and manufacturing process. This is to create the awareness of the importance to understand the characteristics of materials in term of their characteristic, reaction and propertics (whether it be chemical or mechanical). Your task is to perform a simple study on several manufacturing process and the material characteristic that is suitable with the said process. You are free to choose the process, however you should study at least 4 manufacturing processes. The content of each process should include the following (not exclusively): i. Brief introduction ii. Charecteristic of material that is suitable/ required for the process iii. Product that is produced from the process iv. Any related images Your assignment should be printed, Times New Roman 11, 1.5 spacing, justified. Please separate each process by a new paragraph. Use the cover provided to you through your student portal. The due date for this assignment is one week from the date it is handed out to you.
