In beginning my role as a campus principal I recognize that I would need to have a plan or guide to helpme understand how to approach the work of leading a school.The tool I will use is the TranformationalLeadership Framework goal setting and action planning four-step model:Step 1: Diagnose, Step 2:Prioritize, Step 3:Set goals, identify strategies and create action plan, Step 4:Monitor and adjust actionplan. (Jossey-Bass, p. 31)Developing this plan requires the input of a team of leaders who work togetherto create school that is focused on student growth and achievement.I would include the InstructionalLeadership Team (assistant principals and deans) in the planning and implementing the action steps forthe plan.The first step of the yearly plan is Diagnose, and the TLF provides theDiagnosis Process Guideto provide steps to follow and actions to implement as the ILT works to determine the needs of thecampus.As I look at the steps and actions, I am interested in knowing how much time is to bedesignated for any given step/task.For example, the first step has the team examining at least threeyears of data, looking for trends by grade and subgroup (assessments, student mobility, attendance,discipline data, district targets and averages) (Jossey-Bass, 37).How much time would be allocated forthis step?After reading the plan, I am unclear on how this would be implemented.Are these steps inorder of sequence?The plan seems to be missing suggestions on how this guide could be used.I wouldsuggest creating a manual of sorts for the new principal or administrator who is wishing to diagnosethese health of a department, organization or campus
