In Chapter three we learned about the difference between accrual-basis accounting and cash-basis accounting. Under Accrual-basis accounting, we record revenues in the period that goods and services are provided and record expenses in the period that costs are used to provide those goods and services to customers. As for Cash-basis accounting, we record revenues at the time we receive cash and expenses at the time we pay cash. My question is that I still do not understand when to record zero revenues and expenses for both and why? Under what circumstance do we do that? Can someone give me an example?
