In class and the readings you learned about how consumers can sometimes/often be harmed by the "paradox" of choice. What is that paradox? In economics, we argue that "more is better." But in many settings it appears that at some point more is not better, in fact more is worse. And we do not mean more of "bad things", what we mean is that we have identified situations where giving consumers too many goods or services to choose from makes them less likely to consume - which seems to stand in opposition to what we mean by rational choice.
In class we suggested that the Paradox of Choice, while interesting, was itself sort of a Paradox, for at least one reason. Describe what we mean by that, paying particular attention to what we argued in a later lecture is probably a more important assumption than rationality when it comes to the reliability and usefulness of economics models.
