Question:
In class, we discussed how human behavior is influenced by groups. In this conversation we asked how "good" people can be influenced to do "bad" things via social factors. First, describe at least 1 classical study from Social Psychology (i.e., the Solomon Asch Study, Zimbardo Study, or the Milgram Study) by listing its design and basic findings (10 points).
Next, explain how this finding informs our big-picture understanding of human behavior in groups (e.g., does it speak to human conformity, tribalism, and/or obedience, etc.) (10 points).
Then, in this context, describe the Person-Situation debate (also referred to as Situationism) and provide one argument or example that supports continued personal agency despite classical findings in social psychology (10 points).
