In deciding which recruitment strategy is effective, HR managers can use multiple metrics, which are quantitative measures used to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of a recruitment strategy. Those metrics need to be evaluated in tandem and in accordance with your organization's strategic priorities. To evaluate the quality of your recruiting sources, you can look at the yield ratios, cost per hire, levels of job performance, turnover, and diversity of those hired using a specific source. In this exercise we will focus on yield ratios and cost per hire.

According to Noe et al. (2022) yield ratio "expresses the percentage of applicants who successfully move from one stage of the recruitment and selection process to the next". The more you are able to move to the next stage, the better as that is indicative of the high quality of applicants from that source.

Calculate the yield ratio for each recruiting source at two stages of the recruitment process

Calculate the cumulative yield ratio for each recruiting source

Calculate cost per hire for each recruiting source

Compare the different metrics to decide on the best recruiting source

Review the above table and then answer the following questions:

Identify the numerator and denominator you need to calculate yield ratio (1) (2 points)

Calculate yield ratio (1) for each recruiting source (1 point)

Identify the numerator and denominator you need to calculate yield ratio (2) (2 points)

Calculate yield ratio (2) for each recruiting source (1 point)

Identify the numerator and denominator you need to calculate cumulative yield ratio for each source (2 points)

Calculate cumulative yield ratio for each recruiting source (1 point)

Let's assume that all the included recruiting sources are used to recruit for the same or similar jobs; use both cost per hire and cumulative yield ratio to identify the best recruiting source. ( 6 points)
