In discussing professional services, should employers have vicarious liability based on the actions of the hired external contractors? Professional regulatory bodies are essentially self-governing as they determine their own disciplinary measures and the code of conduct professionals are expected to follow. Given these professional regulatory organizations receive leeway from the provincial government, is it fair that external employees uphold different standards in comparison to internal employees in a firm? Should self-governing organizations work with governments to create appropriate codes of conduct and disciplinary measures to ensure there is a limited gap between external and internal employees?
