In each case, you must decide whether the case is an example of bribery or not and give reasons for your judgement.

Case 3

Hamdan is taking out a group of clients for dinner as part of a series of complex negotiations over an important contract. When they arrive at the restaurant, the head waiter apologises and explains that they have had a large party just arrived and they cannot find a table. Hamdan pleads with the head waiter but to no avail. Finally, Hamdan makes one last plea. 'Look, this is a very important dinner for me and my guests. They have expressly requested we go to your restaurant as they have heard so many good things about it. I am sure that if you try really hard you can find us a table. I will certainly make it worth your while if you can just have one more look to see if you can d o any rearranging.'

The head waiter goes away and two minutes later returns and says to Hamdan: 'Thank you sir, I d o apologise for the misunderstanding. I have managed to find your table - please follow me.'
