In each of the scenarios below, you are required to determine whether a legally binding contract was entered into by the parties, by identifying the legal principle and applying it

(a) Amanda and Parveen are studying together at Benchmark College, and they enter into an agreement that Parveen will write Amanda's Contract law assignment for her, as she is so much better at the subject than Amanda, and Amanda will cook dinner for both of them as she is a great cook. Parveen completes the assignment and Amanda achieves an A grade on the paper, however, she is refusing to honour their agreement and cook dinner. 2 marks

(b) Samantha and Gurdeep agree to meet for coffee at Kenco coffee house. Gurdeep is really keen to get out of the house and meet with Samantha and arrives a little early, however, Samantha decides that she should stay at home and study for her Contract law Test 2 as she is aiming for a minimum of 85%. She fails to show up to meet with Gurdeep, and he is furious and threatening to sue her. 2 marks

(c) Tajinder, Katherine, and Matthew have jointly contributed and entered into a crossword puzzle in the daily newspaper for several months, there is always a prize and they agreed in writing that if they win the prize will be shared equally. Katherine's is the only name on the entry form, although they all answered the questions together, and paid the sum of $20.00 entry fee. Their entry is the winning entry for a sum of $150.000 and Katherine is refusing the share the prize as agreed. 2 mark

(d) Dominic agrees to complete his next door's neighbours tax return in his professional capacity as an Accountant. He then changes his mind because he has the opportunity to travel to Montreal to see his girlfriend who he has not seen in 3 months. His next door neighbour, Voilet is threatening to sue.
