In formulating the constraints asked for in each of the following, the constraints must be in the same format required as all the other constraints asked for in this exam. a) Three products, Product 1, Product 2 and Product 3 sell for $35, $30 and $40 per unit, respectively. Formulate the constraint which states that the revenues generated from the dollar sales of product 3, P3, must be no more than 65% of the total $ sales of all three products. (2 marks) b) In production scheduling of some product, with P1, P2, etc., representing production amounts in each quarter, and, S1, S2, etc., representing end of quarter inventory, formulate the constraint for quarter 7, that the number of available units meets demand where demand in that quarter is 18,000 units. (2 marks) c) In one particle intense exercise routine, exercise A burns 1500 calories per 30 minutes, exercise B burns 2100 per 30 minutes, and exercise C burns 1800 calories per 30 minutes for a 120 kg athlete. Formulate a constraint that will allow the athlete to help determine how many minutes he should spend on each exercise if he wants to burn an average of at least 1800 calories per 30 minutes of exercising. (Use A, B and C as the number of minutes spent on each exercise.) Other constraints, not asked for, would be required to determine the actual values of A, B and C. (2 marks) d) In an assignment problem with 5 accountants and 3 clients in need of an accountant, formulate the constraint that, if Bob (accountant, = 1) is assigned to a client than Sam (accountant. = 4) must also be assigned to a client. (2 marks)
