The Ghanaian judicial system has long been regarded as a prestigious and dignified organization responsible with supervising and resolving legal disputes, taking into account all aspects of cases presented to them and using the country's constitution and other pertinent laws to render justice. Judicial corruption happens when the voice of the innocent goes unheard, while the guilty act with impunity Several charges of judicial corruption have been made in Ghana, however many of these claims have been dismissed as just perceptions.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas, an investigative journalist, released an investigative video in 2015 that clearly showed judges and a number of court clerks accepting various sums of money, food, and, in some cases, even sex in order to influence court verdicts. This case, which indicts over 180 judicial officials primarily from the High, Circuit, and District courts, will go down in Ghana's history as the single largest judicial scandal. Following a thorough investigation, 15 high court judges and 22 lower court judges were found guilty after being seen on video and testifying by affected persons.

The idea that this is the institution where individuals who have been wronged go to seek redress is alarming and unprecedented, and if these same institutions engage in even worse forms of corruption, all hope will be lost to some level.
