In 2001 we were all shocked when we watched planes fly into buildings. Now we have almost weekly visual accounts of mass shootings and other tragedies. Do you think this type of media exposure has caused us to become desensitized to death and other types of tragedy? Do you think the internet has caused young people to learn about things they may not be ready for at that age? Do you think this may be why young people go on media platforms and joke about tragedies? Why do you think we use dark humor to deal with death and tragedy? Do you think these types of media exposure can start to feel like our new normal? Are we in danger of becoming apathetic and thus putting ourselves at greater risk of harm?
