In June of 2020, a music group, The Law Students, was scheduled to perform at the Forum Theatre in Metuchen, NJ. They arranged their schedule so that they would be sure to be in Metuchen on that date and all other concerts were scheduled around that performance. The payment for the performance was set at $2500. As the date grew closer, it was becoming clear that the theatre would not be able to host the performance due to the pandemic. Please discuss the legal theories about whether or not The Law Students should be paid for the performance using legal terms.
