In many organizations that involve several critical tasks done by agents, some tasks are complements in the sense that one task reinforces the productivity of another task. Explain why principals can lower the incentive component of compensation for one individual performing two tasks that are complements, but cannot do this if two (2) agents perform the same two tasks separately?
