In March 1996, Boris bought two adjoining properties, Downing House and Chequers Cottage. In November 1999, Boris sold Downing House to his friend, Dominic. Dominic used to park his car in the grounds of Chequers Cottage to save time when he wanted to go into town. Dominic also used a path as a shortcut along Chequers Cottage to reach the local shops where he used to shop regularly. Dominic also used to play badminton regularly in the grounds of Chequers Cottage.

In July 2011, Dominic sold Downing House to Carrie and in November 2020, Boris sold Chequers Cottage to Marina.
