In my opinion, health promotion and protection in small, medium and rural workplaces is challenging because of the lack of surrounding resources and funding. Health promotion and protection efforts focus on the employee and their overall wellness, but it also requires costs on the business' side. Many small business may not have the funding necessary to provide additional support and benefits outside of healthcare costs and prefer to focus solely on job-related hazards rather than health behaviors and lifestyles outside of the workplace that encompass total worker health.
