In one of my math courses, I was part of a project group consisting of five members. Our goal was to complete a comprehensive research project on a mathematical topic and deliver a presentation on our findings to the class. Reflecting on this experience, I realize that my role in making the group ineffect stemmed from my lack of proactive communication and poor time management. According to our textbook, effective communication is critical for team success (Astle et al., 2023). I often hesitated to voice my concerns or suggestions, fearing they might be perceived as criticisms. This hesitancy led to misunderstandings an gaps in our project work. Additionally, I struggled with managing my time, sometimes missing deadlines, which delayed the group's progress. To have improved my contribution, I could have adopted more assertive communication strategies as highlighted in the readings (Astle et al., 2023). Practicing assertive communication involves expressing one's opinions and concerns openly and respectfully, which could have helped address issues promptly and more effectively. One crucial aspect that could have been discussed when the group first began was establishing clear group rules and guidelines. This includes setting expectations for communication, roles, responsibilities, and deadlines. This includes setting expectations for communication, roles, responsibilities, and deadlines. According to our textbook, early establishment of group norms can prevent conflicts and enhance productivity (Astle et al., 2023). For instance, having regular check-in meetings and clearly defined individual tasks would have ensured that everyone was on the same page and accountable for their contributions. In my opinion, our group was in the "Norming" stage of group formation when the project was completed. The stages of group formation, as outlined by Tuckman (1965), include forming, storming, norming, and performing. During the norming phase, group members begin to respect the authority of the leader, work out their differences, and value one other's strengths (Astle et al., 2023). By the time we completed our project, we had overcome initial conflicts and had a clearer understanding of our roles, which facilitated smoother collaboration and increased productivity. Cor Enable Editing I was a part of a flight cabin crew team of 8 people the task was to travel our passengers to their respective destination by creating safe and comfortable journey. The team purpose was to make sure our passengers get safe, secured and give excellent Service. The area where I contributed to the team's ineffectiveness was communication aspect when I brief the crew, I often assumed that every cabin crew is on the same page and I didn't ask for feedback to check their understanding. So, this pseudo conflict led our team to confusion later on the flight. "The most common basic component of communication includes the following elements source, message channel, receiver, noise, feedback and context" (Beebe et al., 2021 1.31). To improve I could have implemented more structured communication strategies, like summaries to make sure everyone was aligned and then ask feedback. words Focus W 190 C Cloudy ~ @ @ ype here to search ASUS F12 Pri SC F7 F8 FO FIO Imp.&c FA 5 F6 F2 F3 & O @ A @ U O P Y Q W E R K S D F G H A V N Munless you need to edit, it's safer to stay in Protected View. "Interpersonal communication is governed by rules" (Beebe et at., 2021, 1.3.1). When we began our briefing, we should have established clear group rules, guidelines, role, responsibilities, how we are going to manage our emotions if there is a conflicts between peers and passengers. "Try to avoid taking action when you are in such a state, you may regret what you say, and you will probably escalate the conflict" (Beebe et al.,8.6.1 2021). we should work on planning conflict resolution because in this profession dealing with conflict is very common. We could have built a more organized team atmosphere if we had addressed this issue. Finally, our team trays to make an effort to manage the situation but in my opinion our team was still in the "Norming" stage. By the time the event was executed, we had overcome initial conflict and miss understanding on the debriefing after the flight. However, we had not reached the performing stage were team operate their highest efficiency.
